Our correspondent, Barry Hoy, left (and his partner) in Montreal's Gay VillageWe all know Montreal has a reputation for being a place of acceptance and inclusion, especially in Montreal’s Gay Village, which is is just east of downtown around Beaudry Metro station, running along Saint Catherine Street. Montreal’s Gay Village is where most of this year’s Pride activities will happen. Barcelona Circuit Festival 2015 in ManAboutWorld gay travel magazine

Burning hot & wet

Welcome readers, especially those from Towleroad. Below is a continuation of the article on Barcelona's Circuit Festival 2015. Click here to read the Towleroad portion of the article. Otherwise, continue on to get you planning guide for Barcelona Circuit Festival and Circuit Ibiza.

Wristbands can be purchased online for around 330 euros, whereas one party may run you close to 40 euros, and at 20 parties in 12 days, it becomes quite costly. Wristbands also mean no waiting in long lines. You can also find them at the host hotel.

Matinee (the party producer) organizes busses leaving Plaza Catalunya to most of the out-of-town events Barcelona Circuit Festival 2015 in ManAboutWorld gay travel magazine— which are many, and as much as an hour’s ride away. These busses are the best way to get around and — at 5 euros each way payable onboard —the cheapest. The bus will drop you at the party and return to the plaza, or onto the next party), so you don’t have to worry about figuring it out. But be mindful of the departure time: At the end of the party there are many more people than busses, often entailing a wait. We recommend leaving an hour before the events end if you’re using the bus.

Also remember that you’re in Spain and things run on a very late schedule. Most of the night time parties don’t truly get going until around 2am, and all events in the city of Barcelona have a hard close at 6 am. You’ll see the Spaniards arrive between 2 and 3 am. There will be people out earlier, but mostly tourists. Do as the locals do and have dinner at 9pm, drinks at midnight, and head out afterwards.

So you’ve got your wristband, but you don’t know which crazed, over-the-top parties to attend. Our one rule of thumb when it comes to Circuit in Barcelona is this: If you don’t go to the Water Park Party, you haven’t been to Circuit. This party, taking over the entire water park with a flood of more than 11,000 gays, is the number-one party of the entire 12 days. For an experience you’ll never forget, head into the middle of the wave pool packed with thousands of Speedo-clad hot wet and horny muscle boys from around the world. Then, just wait until the music really starts pumping, the boys start splashing, and the adrenaline surges as you become lost in a sea of crashing waves and hot men. It is, in a single moment, a microcosm of what Circuit is all about. Oh yes, and there are water rides too. It’s an amazing day. Here’s a cute/silly promotional video that gives you a sense of the sexy exuberance of the Water Park Party.

These guys will be at the wine weekend. #threecheers

For five years Out in the Vineyard‘s “three days of gay” is developing into quite the homo version of wine country’s traditional barrel tasting weekends, wine roads and Napa Valley Auction all rolled into one — but with better music and cruising. In the words of the event co-founder and ManAboutWorld Global Correspondent, Mark Vogler:

None of the straight wine country weekends include pool parties and COLT models! This year Gay Wine Weekend is going all ginger, as sponsor COLT Studio Group is bringing with them the exceedingly charming and smoking hot COLT MAN Seth Fornea — pictured above with Jared Le Blanc. Seth and Jared will be spending Father’s Day Weekend with  us wine loving gay boys and girls, wine tasting and dancing amongst the vines during the weekend’s signature event and AIDS Fundraiser, Twilight T Dance, at the over-the-top-cool Raymond Vineyards.

wineThere are 18 separate events going on over the weekend and 30 participating boutique, mainstream and luxury wineries, including Lasseter Family Winery, La Crema, Raymond Vineyards and the hot-boys-owned-millennial-hot-spot in Sonoma, Envolve Winery. So pop your cork and get to Gay Wine Weekend. Cheers! Details and full list of events

Our very own ManAboutWorld Correspondent (and circuit party aficionado) David DiGiacomo provides the lay of the land for Matinee Las Vegas, scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend along with his top tips for maximizing your enjoyment.

Matinee Las Vegas will take place over Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26). The party brand Matinee was launched over 15 years ago in Ibiza. It has evolved internationally with lavish events including Circuit Festival Barcelona (August 6-17). Upon expanding the brand to North America, the founders asked Patrick Crough and Jake Resnicow to oversee and produce all parties in the USA and Canada.

The first Matinee event was held during Pride NYC on Governors Island. Matinee Las Vegas debuted in 2011. The weekend will feature eight events over four days and nights. The party starts out Friday 9 pm-5 am at Share nightclub. Friday event DJs are Taito Tikaro, Nina Flowers and Felipe Lira.

ManAboutWorld correspondent David DiGiacomo has been to the White Party Palm Springs several times and brings us his top tips for enjoying this desert event celebrating its 25th anniversary.

This year’s White Party Palm Springs marks the 25th-anniversary since this legendary party began. This year it takes place April 25-28 2014. White Party Palm Springs was founded and is produced by Jeffrey Sanker who’s been dubbed “the high priest of gay parties.” The White Party started out with only 300 attendees in its first year and now anticipates hosting over 30,000 revelers from all over the world. Each year Sanker tries to introduce new and upcoming talent to perform at his events throughout the weekend. Such stars as Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, and Icona Pop have all performed at the White Party. I attended two years ago and decided it was time to revisit White Party Palm Springs this year. I have a few tips for those planning to attend the event.

  1. Eat at LULU 200 South Palm Danyon Dr. The food is excellent for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s also a great place to have a drink before heading out.
  2. East Arenas Rd hosts a slew of gay bars all within all within a few hundred feet of each other.

You have to love it when a destination promotes itself as having balls!

Who would have expected it from “stodgy” old Vienna? Well, actually we would have. Vienna’s is not just the capital of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. It’s also a center for innovation, exciting modern art and lots of cool and cutting-edge events. Including these balls, or dances.

Below and on the next page are some of the events we think will most appeal to LGBT travelers sent by our friends in the tourism office who were the ones who gleefully tee’d them up as a city with balls. If you decide to head to Vienna, be sure to download our free app and subscribe or purchase our January/February 2013 issue.

The Life Ball (May 25, 2013) is Europe’s wildest – and highest grossing – AIDS/HIV charity event. Everyone from the Federal Chancellor to Hollywood A-listers makes their way to Rathausplatz for the fashion show, before letting their hair down for a night of hard partying. Life Ball tickets are a seriously hot commodity, but everyone can enjoy the spectacular opening ceremony and fashion show free of charge.

If you missed the Winter Party Festival in Miami this past weekend you still have time to travel to one of your favorite dance events.

For 32 years, a decadent dance party helped to define the New York spring travel calendar. Next weekend, The Saint At Large will stage RITES XXXIV: THE BLACK PARTY. This year’s theme is “Rough Trade at Luna Park.” Held on the weekend closest to the vernal equinox, this party starts on Saturday, March 23rd at the legendary Roseland Ballroom in New York City.

Get ready for an adventure. This dance party is set in the outskirts of Rome in an abandoned amusement park. Strange Live Acts will be played out as a 5-act opera set in a cinematically inspired immersive environment. The fantasy ends sometime Sunday.

If staying up all-night dressed in your best leather is not for you, you might be interested in the Black Party Expo, now in its fourth year.

This is just a fraction of the crowd

This is just a fraction of the crowd

For those needing a reason beyond weather for visiting Miami, our favorite event is Winter Party Festival, celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2013 from March 6-11, when those sad saps stuck in winter climates are at their wits’ end and ready to party under the hot Florida sun.

This year, the Shelborne Hotel will serve as the pool party host, though all of South Beach is convenient to the large roster of parties and events. All Winter Party proceeds benefit the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and local Miami nonprofit organizations serving the LGBT community. Our favorites: the “Under One Sun Pool Party” on Saturday and the actual Winter Party on the beach on Sunday, both outdoor daytime events so you get to drink and dance in the daylight, surrounded by some of the world’s most beautiful men, wearing the least amount of clothing.

Thailand’s island of Koh Phangan

By ManAboutWorld Global Correspondent Miles Mitchinson

The original Full Moon Party started almost 30 years ago on what was once a sleepy, idyllic island in the Gulf of Thailand. Since then, the island of Koh Phangan, off the east coast of Southern Thailand, has paved its roads and opened its doors to crowds of up to 20,000 partiers (though usual attendance is around 15,000) who arrive for one night of debauchery on Haad Rin Beach every single month.

While not an exclusively gay event, you don’t have to look far to find pockets of us partying through the night and well into the morning on this gorgeous white sand beach.  Oh, and 99% of the boys are shirtless … just in case you were wondering.
